Why are we running this program?
At present, as many of you will know, only Darren has been able to deliver our popular IOSH Accredited Behavioural Science for Leadership in Safety Programme in a live face to face or blended learning format.
We have occasionally had two or three known connections stand in for Darren during exceptionally busy periods to deliver a module or two of the programme, but never a full programme to a valued client.
We'd like to change that and build a database of trusted consultants and experienced facilitators who we can call on to deliver to our client base.
We've also had several requests over the years from people like yourself who would like to deliver our IOSH Accredited Behavioural Science for Leadership in Safety Programme to your own client base, or to your leaders, managers and supervisors within your organisation.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we want to enable more of the right participants to deliver this programme to many thousands of leaders, managers and supervisors across all industries, worldwide.

A Flexible, Start-Any-Time Train the Trainer Program
How will we deliver this Train the Trainer program?
The new Train the Trainer program has been designed around flexibility rather than a fixed annual cohort.
You can start the program at any time from 1 October 2026 and work through more than 60 hours of learning and development at your own pace, fitting the programme around your existing professional commitments.
You’ll be supported by us throughout the journey, combining extensive behavioural science learning with practical trainer development, coaching, assessment and supported delivery.
Rather than simply learning how to present somebody else’s slides, our aim is to develop confident Associate Trainers who genuinely understand the behavioural science and can bring the programme to life with their own organisations and clients.

The vibe and collaboration between us all was very good; there was an interesting mix of people with different profiles from different countries. The live online sessions with Darren and the everyone in the group gave us the opportunity to talk to each other, to ask questions, to practice what we’ve learned and to get feedback and I really enjoyed that aspect. My native language is Spanish, but I could still confidently follow the program. I also had overlapping priorities – but I made sure I managed my time well enough to accommodate the sessions.

Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing – Surfacing, Breedon Group
For me, the pace of the Train the Trainer was spot on with the two-week intervals and then all getting together on Teams; and Darren’s great facilitation style, which I’ve adopted! It was a manageable 6-month program on top of my other commitments.
Darren also set up a community platform App for the group making it easy for us chat, share ideas and ask questions.
I've said before that this isn't a typical safety course and it challenges everything we think we already know. I can't wait to deliver it myself.
Kenneth McKechnie
HS&W Programme Culture Lead, Breedon Group
The material is fresh. I honestly thought I knew all about ABC – but Darren has a very refreshing take on it. It was a good course for me as there was material that I’d never seen before. I also really liked Darren’s delivery and coaching style.
The presentations were memorable, and I never went away thinking I didn’t understand that. With some courses you come out at the end and realise you don’t remember much because the material was dry, but I’ve remembered every piece of this.

Vice President, OHS, UPM Helsinki, Finland
There was a very nice diverse group of experienced participants from different businesses and a trust and confidentiality between everyone that made sharing examples of our challenges easy. The communication between us all was open, and Darren was always there when we reached out to him.

Technical Assessment Lead, Clancy Group
I was totally gripped. Behavioural Science for Leadership in Safety puts a completely different perspective on delivering the subject. I've been on other courses with similar titles, but this has a wonderful spectrum of ideas and beliefs. It allows you to ask the Why's. The way the Train the Trainer was structured, the content and the engagement with the other eleven delegates was fantastic.
Your Commitment?
The programme is fully self-paced. Once you register, you'll have immediate access to the complete online content library and can work through it in your own time.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment takes place throughout your Train the Trainer journey rather than relying on one final examination.
You will demonstrate your understanding of the behavioural science underpinning the program, your ability to communicate and facilitate the key concepts effectively, and ultimately your ability to deliver the program confidently to a live audience of past TtT delegates.
The final stages include practical assessed delivery, with feedback and coaching from us to ensure that you are ready to represent both the program and BSST to the standard we expect of our Associate Trainers.
Successful completion leads to recognition by BSST as an Associate Trainer authorised to deliver the IOSH Accredited Behavioural Science for Leadership in Safety Course in the Blended Learning Format under our licence and IP.
We’re giving you considerably more than a training course
Becoming a BSST Associate Trainer gives you access not simply to more than 60 hours of behavioural science and trainer development, but to an established IOSH Accredited program, our supporting delivery materials, ongoing guidance and the opportunity to deliver the program within your own organisation or to your own client base under our licence and IP.
We’ve deliberately made the Train the Trainer program extensive because the people representing our work need to understand the science, not simply reproduce our content.
That’s also why we’re looking for experienced, committed professionals who want to build genuine behavioural science capability within the organisations they support.
